Leto Copeley served as one of two auctioneers at the February 26, 2011 auction held by St. Philips Episcopal Church to support the church youth program. The program, known as Journey to Adulthood, involves four years of educational programming especially for teens, ending with a pilgrimage to a distant land to explore their Christian roots and Anglican church traditions. Funds for the pilgrimage are raised by the church, families of the participants, and the youth themselves, who perform various jobs to earn their part of the passage. Although Leto had previously served as a youth group leader, and had led a pilgrimage to Costa Rica, she had never been an auctioneer. She found the experience was aided by her years of work in the courtroom, where, as at an auction, the goal is to be persuasive. The evening was a great success and those who came had a good time while contributing to a worthy project.
